I am continuing from here. We restarted the project last week and today I had a conference call with them to discuss about the dissertation topic for Soju’s work. We decided upon the following topics:
Seminar: 1451.1 Standard and Object-Oriented Application Framework for NCAP
Project: NCAP Simulator for interfacing TBIM with Ethernet using Object-Oriented Application Framework
Dissertation: Implementation IEEE 1451.1 using ACE framework – Realization of a Reconfigurable NCAP
Major decisions taken:
1) The implementation part of the project will concentrate on design and development of IEEE1451.1 conformant NCAP simulator (network independent Neutral model) on GNU/Linux platform. No hardware realization of NCAP will be done.
2) The developed NCAP system will be adapted (specialized) to work in an ethernet network.
3) The C++ implementation of NCAPSim will use Freesoftware ‘Adaptive Communication Environement‘ (ACE) as its middleware to implement the Neutral model (1) customized for ethernet.
4) The initial implementation will not use any STIM or TBIM to interface a realworld transducer. Instead it will be simulated in software.
Next I need to see how much UML tools will help us to design and develop the NCAP framework. This is definetly a good opportunity to explore EA for OO design and development. I have a licensed version of EA in my Office PC… 🙂
